All-on-4 Dental Implant Dentures

Missing teeth can drain you of your looks, ability to chew, and the ability to speak clearly. The good news is we have options for restoring a missing tooth.

All-on-4 vs. Dental Implants

The All-on-4 dental implants use only four implants to support a full arch. Traditional dental implants, on the other hand,  use six to eight implants in each arch. The All-on-4 process allows our Aurora dentist to avoid bone grafting in many cases.

All-on-4 dental implants save our patients time and money.

All-on-4 Dental Implants Look and Feel Natural

The perfect candidate is someone who already wears replacement teeth, like dentures. Or someone who will need a lot of teeth restored in the near future. We also evaluate the health of the patient and go over their smile goals before we start the procedure.

With proper care and maintenance, most tooth restorations can last a long time. These dental implants look and function like regular teeth, and with a little extra care to make sure they are clean, you will be sure to enjoy them for a lifetime.

The benefits of All-on-4 include:

  • Permanent tooth replacement that cannot slip or be removed
  • Implants cannot be taken out or need adhesives
  • They do not rest on the gum line, which can create soreness
  • Implants are sensitive to food temperatures
  • Allow patient to bite and chew
  • Stimulates bone growth
  • Restores harmony to facial features

If you are ready to restore multiple missing teeth permanently, you may be interested in All-on-4 dental implants. Call Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics today and speak with Dr. John Chen about your options.

Cosmetic Dentistry in Aurora

Do you have a vision for your new smile? Even if it's a small improvement, we are there every step of the way. Even if you don't know where to start, we invite you to call us so we can put you on our schedule.

Crowns and Bridges

Depending on the severity of the break, yes.

Chipped teeth and broken teeth are common dental emergencies in Aurora, CO, and many of these injuries require immediate attention and care.

If you break a tooth and can find the broken or chipped pieces, it’s a good idea to gently pick them up, place them in a clean bag or container, and bring them with you to your emergency visit. Our emergency dentist can often repair a broken tooth using dental bonding or a filling, and it’s sometimes helpful to have the original pieces of the tooth on hand.

Substantial tooth breaks are usually painful, so if you’ve cracked your tooth or broken a large piece of it away from your smile, you can expect the area to be sensitive. If you schedule an emergency dental appointment with us, our first goal when treating you will be to get you out of pain.

Sometimes, however, minor tooth chips are not dental emergencies. You can break a tiny piece of your tooth without even realizing it, or you may sustain a chip that is painless, small, and can wait until the next business day for treatment.

For example, it’s common to chip a tooth while taking a sip of water and bumping your tooth on your glass—but if you’re not in pain and don’t want to travel to our dental office right away, we can schedule a non-emergent visit with our 80016 dentist.

In most cases, yes.

dental crowns | aurora co dentistIf a porcelain crown or onlay is the right restoration for you, it is possible to have your crown done the same day. This may save you an extra trip to the dentist, but we will still need at least two and a half hours of your time. Please let our front office know before scheduling for a same-day crown so that time is set aside to complete your procedure.

Same-Day Crowns

At our office, we are happy to offer our patients E4D technology, which makes getting a crown easier and more convenient than ever. The E4D crown is made in-office and looks completely natural.

One of the things about the E4D crown that patients appreciate the most is that not only are the crowns made with just one trip to the dentist, but patients can get a crown without the uncomfortable goopy impressions needed for traditional dental crowns. Instead, Dr. Chen will make an optical impression of your tooth using a digital camera. Your crown is digitally designed with the E4D's three-dimensional software.

Dental Crowns in Arvada

Once the crown is designed, the data is sent to the onsite milling unit where the restoration is fabricated in minutes.  Please call us with any more questions you might have.

If you have a crown, you know that your dentist recommended it to protect a decayed or broken tooth from further damage. But at our Aurora dental office, we also use crowns along with other dental restorations to replace missing teeth.

The first is where we use a dental implant to replace a single missing tooth. Dr. Chen places an artificial titanium tooth root in your jaw, and as it heals, it fuses with the bone and tissue around it. Now that you have a new root, Dr. Chen adds a dental crown to give you a completely new tooth that completes your smile and allows you to chew comfortably again.

The second way we use crowns to replace missing teeth in Aurora is to anchor a dental bridge in place. Dr. Chen customizes an artificial tooth called a pontic that matches your smile and sits in the space left by the missing tooth. The pontic is held securely in place by a dental crown on either side that is anchored to adjacent teeth for support.

If you need to replace missing teeth, we also offer full and partial dentures and implant-supported dentures in addition to dental implants and bridges. Call our Aurora, CO dental office to schedule an appointment so we can find the solution that best fits your needs.

Dr. Chen wants the best results for our patients, so we work with great surgeons in the area.

Dental Implant Candidates

If you are considering dental implants to replace one or more missing teeth, you should know that almost anyone who has sufficient periodontal bone is a candidate for dental implants. Dentures

Older dentures that no longer fit properly is a common complaint we hear at our Aurora dental office. You may notice increased irritation, slipping, and shifting, and the feeling that your once-perfect dentures now belong in someone else’s mouth!

It is natural for your older dentures to lose the snug fit they had when they were new. There are a couple of reasons for this. For one thing, your older dentures may have been made with a rigid material that was available at the time.

Also, your dentures were custom-made to fit the shape of your jaw as it was then. But as we age, our gums and jaw contours change, and dentures that fit perfectly years ago no longer do.

Modern dentures are made of a softer, more pliable material that adheres more closely to the shape of your jaw to create a snug, secure fit. This new material is lighter and also makes dentures more comfortable by helping to eliminate painful irritation and soreness.

Aurora prosthodontist Dr. John Chen designs natural-looking dentures and partials that allow our patients to go back to speaking clearly and chewing comfortably again. Living with ill-fitting dentures can be a real pain, but we can help!

Please contact us at (303) 985-5268, and we will be glad to arrange a consultation and show you the difference that new dentures can make to your smile and your life.

If you want to replace one or more missing teeth, you have options, including dental bridges, full and partial dentures, dental implants, and implant dentures. Each has its place, and dentures continue to be a popular tooth replacement for Aurora patients because they work well for so many people.

Unfortunately, many adults shy away from dentures because they worry about having replacement teeth that look fake or artificial. You may worry about their appearance, but modern dentures surpass the older versions in every way, including look, feel, stability, and function.

Most importantly, modern dentures and partials designed by Dr. John Chen at our Aurora dental office look more like real teeth than ever before. The look of your teeth is an integral part of your overall facial appearance, so we customize your dentures accordingly. Your hair, eye, and skin color, and the shape of your face and jaw are all taken into account.

When he designs your dentures, Dr. Chen works closely with you to carefully select the shade, shape, and position of each artificial tooth. We work with the highest-quality custom dental labs in our area, where trained technicians skillfully place each artificial tooth according to our specifications.

The result is full or partial dentures that look so realistic and fit and function better than you ever imagined they could. No one will ever suspect that your dentures are not a natural part of your smile.

If you want to replace missing teeth, our Aurora prosthodontist offers several options, including dentures, bridges, dental implants, and implant dentures. Call us today so we can help restore your smile with our beautiful customized dentures.

We understand how unsettling even a minor dental emergency like a loose crown can be. Something’s not right, and you want it resolved as promptly as possible. We’re here to help you by providing emergency dental care at our Aurora dental office, so you can get back to focusing on all the important things you need to do.

Dr. Chen is an experienced emergency dentist who has the skill and expertise to handle any problem you are currently experiencing:

  • Toothache
  • Broken tooth
  • Lost dental crown
  • Lost tooth filling
  • Broken denture
  • Infected tooth
  • Dental trauma

Dental emergencies come in all shapes and sizes, so if you don’t see your specific problem in the above list, call us, and we’ll make sure you get the treatment you need to get you back in the game.

We offer comprehensive emergency dentistry in Aurora, so Dr. Chen can expertly fix broken teeth, fill cavities, replace dental crowns, and perform emergency root canals and tooth extractions.

If your emergency is a symptom of a more significant, underlying condition, we’ll provide the immediate relief you need, then work on a treatment plan to resolve the problem and get your general oral health back on track.

Are you experiencing a toothache or some other dental emergency? Call our Aurora dental office at (303) 627-5755, so we can provide the relief you need as soon as possible.

If you have a severe toothache that’s interrupting your daily life, then it’s probably a dental emergency. Extreme tooth pain will feel unbearable and can even lead to pain in neighboring parts of your body, such as your neck and ears.

Tooth pain occurs in many different intensities, so not all tooth pain is a dental emergency. If your toothache is mild, intermittent, dull, or controllable with over-the-counter painkillers, you most likely don’t need to come in for an emergency visit. However, just because you don’t need to see us that same day doesn’t mean our Aurora emergency dentist doesn’t want to examine your smile.

At Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics, we still want to treat you for your tooth pain no matter how severe or mild it may be. Pain in a tooth is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong, even if it starts as only a small inconvenience or on-and-off sensitivity.

Tooth pain typically indicates cavities or significant internal infection, meaning that you need a dental filling or possibly root canal treatment. If you suffer from TMJ or bruxism, your pain may also be due to pressure on your jaw or wear and tear from constant teeth grinding.

If you experience tooth pain or another dental emergency in Aurora, CO, don’t wait to contact our dental office at (303) 627-5755 today.

x-ray after dental emergency | emergency dentist in south denverAs an emergency dentist in Aurora, the team at Uptown Prosthodontics sees many patients for toothaches. If you are experiencing the pain of a toothache, it’s essential that you come in to see us right away. Dental pain is never normal, and when it worsens, it usually just means the problem is getting more serious.

Handling a Dental Emergency

The most common treatment for a toothache is a root canal to get rid of the infection that has formed at the tooth root. Although many people have an unfavorable view of this treatment, root canals will get rid of your pain and save your tooth. The procedure itself is not painful.

We also see patients who have a tooth that has been damaged or knocked out because of trauma. If your tooth has been completely knocked out, the chances of saving it are better the earlier we see you, so it’s important to get the dentist immediately.

Other emergencies include a filling or crown that has fallen out. In these situations, you might feel some discomfort, but you can usually wait to be seen until the next available dental appointment.

General Dentistry

A general dentist is allowed to do any dental procedure, but they may not be able to perform them at the same high level as a specialist. This means that any dentist can say he or she will do the same procedures as a prosthodontist. However, there is a big difference in the level of training received by a general dentist versus a prosthodontist. The proof is in the quality of care patients receive.

Your Aurora Prosthodontistgeneral dentitst | aurora co dentist

A prosthodontist is a specialized dentist who has received three additional years of training after completing four years of dental school. With Dr. Chen, you can rest assured that he has received training specifically in providing the more serious treatments that you might need, such as dental implants, dentures, and cosmetic dentistry procedures.

There is an advantage for you, the patient, when you see a prosthodontist who runs a general dentist practice because you can know that you will not have to be sent to a specialist for restorative dental care. Not only will Dr. Chen be familiar with your medical and oral health history, but you will be familiar with receiving treatment from him. This can go a long way toward calming anxiety about needing more serious dental treatment.

The most important part of general and preventive dentistry is regular dental check-ups at Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics.

What Happens During a Dental Exam?

During your exam, Dr. Chen will visually inspect for signs of decay, cavities, infection, oral cancer, gum disease, and other dental abnormalities. Once or twice a year, we will take a digital impression of your mouth using panoramic or digital x-rays; we will be able to show our patients exactly what the dentist on a monitor. Our diagnostic tools are geared for efficient problem-spotting, and once we catch and identify issues early, we can often treat them with minimal surgical intervention.

Your dental exam is a great time to discuss your diet, lifestyle, oral hygiene routine, and even how to properly brush and floss. We are very interested in improving your oral health and keeping it there.

Protecting Your Oral Health

Your dental exams can protect your oral health as well as your general health. We look for signs like lupus, heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes so that you can get these issues treated early. As a prosthodontist, Dr. Chen is specifically trained to handle complex cases. Many patients come to our office because their concerns were not addressed by a general dentist or they are unhappy with the results from a previous general dental office.

A prosthodontist is a specialized dentist who goes on for three additional years of training after completing traditional dental school. We also provide general dentistry at our practice. Porcelain Veneers

woman getting porcelain veneers | cosmetic dentist in auroraVeneers are a permanent cosmetic dentistry treatment because your teeth will have to be treated before the veneers are applied.

The Veneer Process

Dr. Chen will do this by removing a small amount of enamel from the surface of your teeth to make room for the veneers. Once the veneers have been custom-made for you in the lab, the veneers are placed and positioned in the desired spot before being cemented into place. A curing light will harden the cement to ensure the veneers stay in place permanently.

Once you have veneers, you will want to protect your investment. With good oral care, which includes regular brushing and flossing as well as twice yearly trips to the dentist, you can expect your veneers to last for at least a decade.

Veneers are strong and durable, but they may not hold up well to habits such as nail-biting or teeth-grinding. Don’t chew on ice or use your teeth as a tool. Chipping or cracking your veneers will mean expensive replacement.

Smile Makeovers in Aurora

Veneers are a great way to camouflage a variety of dental issues, including teeth that crooked, gapped, stained, too short, or otherwise imperfect. See the team of professionals at Uptown Prosthodontics to find out more about veneers in Aurora.

It depends on the extent of the misalignment, but in some cases, yes, we can use porcelain veneers to conceal crooked teeth. But remember that veneers are only an aesthetic solution and not a replacement for orthodontic treatment.

A dental veneer is a thin facing of custom-shaped porcelain that covers the front surfaces of your teeth and conceal numerous problems like chipped, broken, stained, or poorly proportioned teeth.

Since veneers provide a new tooth surface, we can also use them to conceal minor tooth misalignment. While the teeth still remain fixed in their position, the face of the veneer creates the appearance of straight teeth.

Placing dental veneers takes place over two visits to our Aurora dental office. During the first, we prepare the teeth we’re treating by removing a thin layer of dental enamel. We then take impressions and create temporary veneers to wear until your final veneers come back from the custom dental lab.

During the second visit, we adjust the veneers for fit and bond them securely to the teeth. With excellent oral hygiene and routine preventive exams and dental cleanings, your veneers can last as long as ten years. It’s important to remember that, since we alter the structure of your tooth, porcelain veneers are a lifetime commitment.

If you are considering porcelain veneers in Aurora, CO, and would like to learn more, please call Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics.

The first step when you’re considering any type of cosmetic dentistry is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Chen at our Aurora dental office. You probably already have a clear idea of what results you’d like to see, and Dr. Chen can help you explore all available treatment options to attain them.

Porcelain veneers are a popular cosmetic dental treatment because they’re so versatile. These super-thin shells of porcelain or ceramic create a new tooth surface that masks whatever flaws are beneath it. These flaws may include chipped, cracked or broken teeth, uneven spacing, and even slight tooth misalignment.

Once you and Dr. Chen agree porcelain veneers are the right choice, we’ll take digital impressions of your teeth and select a tooth shade that closely matches the rest of your smile. A custom dental lab will fabricate your veneers to our exact specifications.

Dr. Chen will prepare your tooth or teeth for the veneers by removing a thin layer of tooth enamel equal to the thickness of the veneer. He then checks your customized veneers for fit, makes any adjustments, and bonds them to your teeth.

Porcelain dental veneers are very durable and can last as long as ten years, but they are prone to chipping. Avoiding hard or crunchy foods can help you avoid damage and keep your veneers looking great for many years to come.

Ready to see if porcelain veneers in Aurora can help you love your smile again? Call us to schedule an appointment with Dr. Chen so we can help you.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a popular way to change up your look without using dental restorations like porcelain veneers.

A walk around your store will show you the many different brands and styles of teeth whitening, but is it better to just get your teeth done professionally?

The best way to get reliable and immediate results is through professional whitening. Store brands all vary in efficacy, but without professional-grade gel, patients rarely see a significant improvement.

Schedule a Professional Teeth Whitening

There are many benefits to teeth whitening, but the best use of your time and money is having it done professionally. This is a good assurance that you won't accidentally drip gel onto your gums, or feel disappointed that after weeks of application, you barely have a lighter smile.

The best way to know if teeth whitening is the right treatment for you is by calling Uptown Comprehensive Dentistry and Prosthodontics. Dr. John Chen will go over your smile goals with you and determine the perfect shade.

Store brands don't have the strength that dental offices do to bleach your teeth and remove stains. Some brands can even cause damage to your precious enamel, doing far more harm than good.

Be safe; allow us to whiten your smile without worry.
